Our Story

Body RES is a story of combining the best of polar opposites in a constant inquiry for wisdom, deep listening, and real, human connection.

I started my journey as a kid that was sick and tired of the way his body looked. I was overweight, self conscious, lost in the world of thoughts swirling in my head. People told me I was a gifted thinker, but I hardly ever felt special.

The decision was made to change my habits and life style, so that I could be the embodiment of strength, perseverance, and fortitude. On my fitness journey, I spent over 10 years weight lifting and becoming a personal trainer.

I was helping people protect their body's with proper form, and guiding them on their journey to discovering the strong, confident versions of themselves. I had successfully broken through my limiting beliefs that I could never have a fit, sexy body, and was helping others do the same.

The Beginning

Even though I was at my peak physical fitness at the time, I was still lost. The 6 pack and muscles didn't give me the clarity I had hoped for, and I was about to graduate with a degree in business economics, with no desire to work in human resources or banking.

To make matters worse, I hurt my back badly and was unable to train clients and maintain my own health. That is when I was introduced to chiropractic. I had been in debilitating chronic pain for about 6 months, and struggling to find relief before I met a chiropractor who would become my mentor, Dr. Pena.

Within 2 adjustments I could see how much of a mistake considering surgery at the time was, and I was opened to the world of holistic healing. I figured "I could make decent money helping people the way I've been helped? Sign me up!" And so I did. I enrolled at Life West Chiropractic College the summer following my undergraduate graduation.

Balancing of Opposites

Entering into chiropractic school I was eager to learn, and still largely a mechanical, logical person. I was open minded, but favored structural stability against what I understood as "energy work."

Knowing this, I made it a priority to learn from as many of the different types of healing as possible, from techniques and mentors that were some of the best in their fields, ranging from biomechanical chiropractic, functional movement, concept therapy, to energy healing.

My mind was opened to larger Truth when I had a spiritual experience that caused me to question and re-create everything in my life and character. I began to see that there were many ways of seeing any particular scenario, and that each perspective brought its own wisdom.

More over, I learned that the essence of two seemingly polar opposite viewpoints were actually marks along an wider spectrum of possible considerations, and that I could combine the best of both views to create a more holistic understanding of the reality.

That is how I've learned to create a philosophy that is not mutually exclusive to any other philosophy, method, or practice. It is a way of taking the value from each, and fitting it into necessary context and application, to fit the unique patient and moment.
